Most companies scan logos in order to save time, but in effect

  sacrifice quality; as scanned logos tend to pick up every detail

 on a given page of art.  Therefore, if a fax is

 of lesser quality, every speck and blemish will

 also be included in the engraved logo.

 

Another drawback to scanning, is that if the logo

 itself is not of great clarity, then the end result falls

 along the lines of, "what you see is what you get!!"   

Whereas, hand digitization allows for more 

freedom to compensate for various cutter widths, 

as well as clean-up; and better any less than stellar art.
